Nestled in the leafy suburb of Mt Pleasant, Parrish Avenue is a standout example of how thoughtful renovation can breathe new life into an already iconic home. Originally designed by an architect in the 1970s, the brief for this project was to transform the home into a luxurious, modern residence—without losing its character.
The renovation was recognised by the Master Builders Association with two major awards:
🏆 Best Kitchen over $100,000
🏆 Best Alterations & Additions ($900,000–$1.2M)
At the heart of the home is the award-winning kitchen, where craftsmanship shines through. Curved edges, 60ml routed detailing, and custom stonework from Goode By Design combines to create a centrepiece that’s both elegant and practical. Six Velux skylights set into the raked ceilings above the kitchen and living space flood the interior with natural light, making it feel open, grand, and serene.
Seamless integration of old and new
A clever mix of old and new continues throughout. Existing hardwood window frames were retrofitted with Aneeta Sashless Windows, offering seamless ventilation without compromising on aesthetics. High gallery windows invite light and air while preserving privacy, and a 400kg glass panel—craned carefully into position—adds a bold architectural statement.
Joinery that elevates everyday living
The interiors feature oak-coloured timber veneer joinery by Goode By Design, including three walk-in wardrobes. The master suite wardrobe is particularly striking, complete with a central display island that wouldn’t be out of place in a boutique.
Bathrooms and basement with bold personality
Bathrooms are bold and beautiful, featuring black and bone tones, freestanding baths, and Marrakesh Venetian plaster by Altin Rendering in place of traditional tiling. Downstairs, a European-inspired wine cellar was creatively fitted between original brick piers, with wine barrels built into the wall—a playful yet elegant touch.
Old world charm, reimagined
Even the front door tells a story—an original heavy oak piece with black iron detailing, evoking a sense of mystery and timelessness.
A true collaboration of craft and creativity
